Native Plants Bring Nature Home

The Friends of Ravenna-Cowen advocate for maintaining our historic heritage AND our natural heritage.  This latest blog speaks to the latter with insights on how each of us can contribute to increasing the diversity of plants and wildlife in our urban environment.

The author, Woody Wheeler, is a neighbor and passionate conservationist. He makes a compelling case for why adding native plants to your garden is important, and offers simple steps you can take to enhance your yard and/or garden and do something good for the world!

Check out the plantings at our neighborhood traffic circle on 17th – you might be surprised to know it is full of native plants and provides a fine example of how lovely this can be.

Please access the blog thru this link, or copy and paste to your browser.

It will also give you the option to follow his monthly blog with a wide range of topics that help inspire our understanding and appreciation of our natural world. Woody will also be leading two bird walks in Ravenna Park in May so keep your eyes out for the registration opportunity on the FORC website.
